Two Polish police vehicles were pelted with stones and Molotov cocktails, Monday evening, in Mitrovica, northern Kosovo.
“Two police vehicles from the Polish contingent in Kosovo were pelted with stones and Molotov cocktails on Monday night, Tuesday morning. No one was hurt,” police spokesman in Warsaw Insp. Mariusz Sokolowski told the PAP news agency.
Inspector Sokolowski said the incident is probably connected with arrests made by Polish officers in the area connected to a murder enquiry.
There are currently 115 Polish officers serving in Kosovo as part of the EU EULEX mission.
Kosovo declared itself independent from Serbia in 2008, though tension remains between the Albanian and Serbian communities in cities such as Mitrovica. (pg)
