Iran deal great news for Polish farmers

Normalisation of relations with a country that imports 85 percent of its food is great news for Polish farmers, for example poultry producers.

"Signs of normalisation with Iran are a great opportunity to sell several thousand carriages, several thousand trams, subway cars, very large amounts of food, not just dairy, led by milk powder," Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Janusz Piechociński told reporters in Łódź after an historic nuclear cooperation deal with Iran was signed in Vienna on Tuesday morning.
"This is a huge opportunity for poultry and Polish beef, a great opportunity for many technologies, for example in the field of environmental protection and agricultural processing," the minister added.
Iran and six world powers concluded an agreement to lift sanctions on Iran. The deal between foreign ministers binds Iran, the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China to a series of undertakings over many years.
Iran promised to dismantle much of its nuclear infrastructure, while the UN, US and EU will rescind sanctions built up around Iran over the past nine years.
According to the minister, Iran is also a potential area of expansion, in areas of technological exploration and exploitation of raw materials, and could also be a market for Polish refrigerators and furniture.
Piechociński said that after a successful "Go India" campaign aimed at the Indian market, now it's time for "Go Iran." "And it will be a big 'Go,'” he added. (jh)
