The talks with the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia also covered the development of regional infrastructure, including the Rail Baltica and Via Baltica transport projects, energy security, the future of the European Union following the UK’s decision to leave, as well as Estonia's forthcoming presidency of the EU.
“This was a very good discussion about cooperation in our region, but also across Europe,” Szydło told a press conference following the meeting.
“We have many common interests,” she added. “Together we are working on energy and infrastructure projects.”
Szydło said that since 1 May, Polish F16 jets part of the Orlik 7 Polish Military Contingent have been participating in protecting the airspace of the Baltic states as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission.
Earlier in the day, Szydło met Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid to discuss bilateral relations.
“We look forward to constructive cooperation with the Estonian presidency,” Szydło said following the meeting. (rg/pk)
