Leaders at the two-day gathering in the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire were also to discuss economic development as a way of preventing migrants desperate for a better life from flocking to Europe.

Szydło was among 28 leaders from Europe and 55 from Africa expected to take part in the summit.

Six in ten Africans are under the age of 25. Meanwhile, Côte d'Ivoire, a West African country of almost 24 million, is among the most rapidly developing nations on the continent.
