The funds will support joint Polish-Lebanese projects designed to provide assistance to refugees who have taken shelter in that country, Michał Dworczyk, head of the Polish Prime Minister's Office, told public broadcaster Polish Radio.
He spoke as Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was on a two-day visit to Lebanon, where he met his counterpart Saad Hariri and was also scheduled to hold talks with the country’s President Michel Naim Aoun.
Migration and assistance to refugees were among the key topics of Morawiecki’s talks in Beirut.
Lebanon, a country of just over 4 million, has accepted over 1 million refugees, according to Dworczyk.
He said on Polish Radio 1 that helping refugees on the spot was the best form of assistance, one advocated by Poland’s conservative government and by the Lebanese authorities.
