Jadwiga Emilewicz, Poland’s minister for enterprise and technology, voiced concern during talks at the US Department of Commerce that increased trade tensions could also affect Poland, especially its automotive industry, the Polish public broadcaster’s news agency reported on Wednesday.
Emilewicz on Tuesday met US Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs Karen Dunn Kelley for talks on boosting Polish business presence in the United States and on new American trade policies, primarily those affecting Europe, according to IAR.
"Difficult questions, a difficult conversation," Emilewicz said after the talks, as quoted by IAR.
Emilewicz said in early June that new US tariffs on steel and aluminium would have little impact on Poland because the country’s steel and aluminium exports to the United States were insignificant.
She was also quoted as saying at the time that Poland supported the European Union’s executive arm in its opposition to the new US tariffs.
