The European Union said on Thursday it has extended by another six months travel restrictions and asset freezes against 155 people and 44 companies for undermining or threatening the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

Among the individuals targeted by the sanctions are Russian politicians and Ukrainian separatists, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

The sanctions have been prolonged until March 15, 2019.

“An assessment of the situation did not justify a change in the sanctions regime,” the European Council said in a statement.

The EU imposed sanctions on Russia after it annexed Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula in 2014.
