Polish minister names challenges facing EU

Europe needs reform, Poland’s deputy foreign minister for European affairs Konrad Szymański said at a major business conference on Monday.

Szymański said that key issues facing the EU included the future of the common market, the elimination of trade barriers, security, defence policy and resolving migration problems, state news agency PAP reported.
“This new European consensus, also in terms of industrial and climate policies, is possible today,” he added.
This year’s guests at the congress include some 12,000 politicians, Polish government officials, businesspeople and economic policy makers from across Europe.
The debates were set to focus on the future of the European Union after Brexit, business, technology, Polish energy policy to 2040, the market for liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the planned construction of a new hub airport in central Poland.
The 11th European Economic Congress runs until Wednesday.
It is accompanied by European Start-up Days, an event that starts on Tuesday and is expected to attract an additional 3,000 participants.
