Speaking in the southern city of Katowice, Błaszczak said: “The strengthening of Polish-US relations is vital for Poland’s security, as well as for the security of our part of Europe, and also for the whole of Europe.”
Błaszczak identified strengthening Poland’s relations with the US and affirming Poland’s position in NATO as some of his ministry’s key aims, alongside expanding the Polish army and modernizing equipment.
Błaszczak added: “The presence of American soldiers in Poland undoubtedly serves to deter potential aggressors.”
Last month the US decided to station an additional 1,000 troops in Poland, on top of the roughly 4,500 American troops already in the country.
