The film, which will be shot in English in Poland, Italy and the United States, blends Navajo mythology with a tale about fictional trillionaire Wes Tauros (Malkovich) and his would-be biographer (played by Josh Hartnett of 'Black Hawk Down').
Hartnett's character possesses otherworldly powers of the imagination and is able to alter reality.
Majewski is best known beyond Poland for his award-winning 2011 film 'The Mill on the Cross', a dream-like concoction inspired by Pieter Bruegel the Elder's painting 'The Procession to Calvary'.
The film starred Rutger Hauer and Charlotte Rampling, and the latter will return to work with the director for 'Valley of the Gods'.
Also set to play in the film is Jonathan Rhys-Davies, who delighted many fantasy fans in the role of dwarf king Gimli in Peter Jackson's trilogy 'The Lord of the Rings'.
John Malkovich has a cult following, largely thanks to his flair for playing cads and psychopaths in such films as 'Dangerous Liaisons' (1988), 'In the Line of Fire' (1993), 'Con Air' (1997) and 'Burn After Reading' (2008). (nh)
