Pawlikowski's 'Cold War' wins top prize at Polish Film Festival

Polish-British director Paweł Pawlikowski’s "Cold War" has won the top Golden Lions award at the 43rd Polish Film Festival, which ended in the coastal city of Gdynia on Saturday.

The Silver Lions went to Filip Bajon’s The Butler, and the people’s choice award went to Wojciech Smarzowski’s The Clergy.
A lifetime achievement award was presented to Jerzy Skolimowski.
More than 130 films were screened at this year's festival, including 16 productions competing for the Golden Lions, among them Małgorzata Szumowska’s Mug and Bartosz Konopka’s Blood of God.
Cold War is a love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, set against the backdrop of the Cold War in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
The cast includes leading Polish actors Joanna Kulig, Tomasz Kot, Agata Kulesza and Borys Szyc.
The film won Pawlikowski best director award at the Cannes Festival in May. It hit Polish cinemas in June and is due to go on general release in the United States in December.
