Polish Radio raises thousands to help terminally ill child

Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski's club jersey and boxer Wojciech Barnik's medal have been auctioned off in Polish Radio's bid to rescue a terminally ill five-year-old girl.

A total of more than PLN 700,000 (EUR 164,000 USD 190,000) has been raised to cover the cost of experimental therapy to treat an agressive brain tumour in the child, who is the daughter of a Polish Radio employee.
Lewandowski's jersey raked in PLN 11,500 and the medal went for PLN 10,000.
A number of the public broadcaster's stations have gotten on board to raise funds with special broadcasts dedicated to the girl's plight.
Autographed books and CDs were also being auctioned off in the charity drive.
