Exhibition celebrates centuries of Polish-Hungarian ties

An exhibition celebrating centuries of Polish-Hungarian friendship has gone on show in Warsaw in an event launched by government ministers from both countries.

The Bratanków dzieje wspólne (Poland and Hungary: A History of Brotherhood) exhibition at Warsaw's Royal Łazienki Park showcases more than 100 exhibits from museums in Hungary that trace the shared history of the two nations down the ages.
Polish Culture Minister Piotr Gliński said at the opening on Monday that the exhibition accurately captured the spirit of Polish-Hungarian relations, which he said were based on "mutual respect, assistance, and, last but not least, undoubtedly, common feelings of friendship."
Poland and Hungary are close allies in the European Union. They also work together as part of a regional cooperation platform known as the Visegrad Group.
Poland's president said in March that Polish-Hungarian relations were flourishing, driven by shared values and expanding business ties between the two nations.
Public broadcaster Polish Radio in mid-March aired a range of reports from Budapest and programmes focusing on the culture and history of Hungary to coincide with that country’s national holiday.
The Warsaw exhibition runs until August 6.
