This year’s Open’er, one of the biggest such festivals in Europe, was set to be launched by US indie-rock giants Vampire Weekend, rapper Travis Scott and experimental hip-hop heroes Death Grips.

Other acts include The Strokes, Kylie Minogue, Kamasi Washington, The Smashing Pumpkins and Lana Del Rey as well as Poland’s rising electronic duo Coals.

Besides music, visitors will also have the opportunity to watch acclaimed theatrical productions by Grzegorz Jarzyna and Krzysztof Warlikowski, as well as savour an art exhibition staged in conjunction with Warsaw’s Museum of Modern Art.

Film buffs will have an opportunity to meet young American Stranger Things stars Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin.

The two actors, who play Mike and Lucas in the hit series, were to host a Q&A session ahead of this summer’s upcoming premiere of the third season of Stranger Things.

Held annually from 2002, the Open’er festival has seen performances by stars including Prince, Radiohead, Björk and the Beastie Boys.

As in previous years, the fest is taking place on the grounds of the Gdynia-Kosakowo airport. It runs until Saturday night.
