The contract, which was signed with Metals and Engineering Corporation of AAMI, also includes the delivery of spare parts and the kitting out of service centres for the tractors once they arrive in Africa.

Delivery of the tractors – which will be equipped with 50, 80, 110, 140, and 180 bhp engines – is due to commence around the end of the first half of 2014.

Deputy Chairman of Ursus SA, Karol Zarajczak told journalists this week that the signing of the contract was part of the company’s aim “to try and rebuild old export markets and confirmation of the effectiveness of the board’s strategy.”

The Warsaw Stock Exchange also got wind of the news, with Ursus stocks jumping over 60 percent after the announcement was made. (jb)
