Autosan bus manufacturer up for sale

The Autosan bus manufacturer in Sanok, south-east Poland, has been put up for sale after filing for bankruptcy late last year.

The asking price for the factory is over 56 million zloty (around 14 million euro), with a call for tenders open until June 13.
The managing baord of Autosan declared bankruptcy at the beginning of October 2013, with owner Sobieslaw Zasada Group announcing days alter that a shareholding would be sold to a private investor for a symbolic amount.
Currently Autosan is under receiver management, which decided to re-employ 360 out of the factory’s 500-strong personel. The factory still manufactures buses and is completing contracts won before declaring bankruptcy.
More contracts are still in the pipeline, and in the first quarter of this year seven buses came off the line, with over a dozen currently in production.
Meanwhile, District Prosecutors in Krosno are investigating the factory’s bankruptcy.
Autosan is one of Poland’s oldest factories, dating from 1832. Since 2001, it has also designed and produced elements for rail stock, including tram and rail carriage bodies. (jb)
