Over 400 workers from the PZL Mielec factory have applied for voluntary redundancies, as the company is plagued with financial trouble.

"This means that the board will not decide which workers would have to be downsized," the head of the company’s Solidarity trade union told the PAP news agency.
The program of voluntary redundancies at PZL Mielec ended on Friday.
The reason for downsizing include losing the tender for selection of helicopters for the Polish army. In total, around 500 people will lose their jobs at the company, which is part of the US-based Sikorsky company. (rg)
