Poland's Economy Minister Janusz Piechociński confirmed that talks are held with a big, foreign automotive company.

An investment worth GBP 1.7 billion would be located in Poland if the deal was finalised, the minister says.

Since May, the international media has speculated about Poland being considered (along with Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary) by Indian company Tata, as a potential host of their next Jaguar Land Rover factory.

On Thursday, the Economic Times of India wrote that Poland outran its competitors and Tata will situate its factory within Polish borders.

Piechociński did not confirm Tata being the partner of the talks, saying he would not be drawn by the media to speculate on the matter and would not quarrel about it with other competing countries.

The minister also mentioned that the investment would cover an area of more than 450 ha, and would create more than 5,000 workplaces. (tf/rg/rk)
