Paweł Tamborski, who has been the head of the Polish stock exchange since 2014, left the WSE building in Warsaw accompanied by CBA officials.
Broadcaster TVN added that the anti-corruption arm of the Polish police also raided offices in the Treasury Ministry where Tamborski worked before.
"I confirm that CBA agents conducted a search of the premises of these institutions on request of the prosecutor's office,” Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesperson for the CBA, told TVN.
The State Prosecutor is examining Tamborski’s role in the privatisation of Ciech SA, once owned by the late Jan Kulczyk, formerly Poland’s richest man.
Investigators are looking into the sequence of events which led to the privatisation, particularly meetings held between Kulczyk and Tamborski, who was then-secretary of state at the Treasury.
Tamborski’s predecessor, Ludwik Sobolewski, resigned from his position as CEO of the WSE in 2014 when he was accused of trying to use his influence at the bourse to raise funds for a film starring his actress girlfriend. (rg/rk)
