Dreamliner cleared for landing at Warsaw airport

Boeing’s latest aircraft, the 787 Dreamliner is set to land at Warsaw’s Okecie airport at the end of June, the chairman of LOT Polish Airlines, Marcin Pirog has informed.
“Warsaw will be the first civilian airport in Europe which where the Dreamliner will land,” Pirog said, adding that the aircraft will be presented at the Paris Air Show on 24 June.
The move to bring the Dreamliner over to Warsaw comes as LOT is the first carrier in Europe to order the aircraft.
In March, Boeing informed LOT that deliveries of the aircraft will start in April 2012, with the deliveries of a further four 787s between August and November 2012.
LOT is to maintain a fleet of eight Dreamliners, serving destinations in Asia. “Next year we want to open routes from Warsaw to Beijing and Tokyo,” Pirog said, stating that at the beginning there are to be three flights a week to both of the destinations.
LOT was hoping to offer the new routes in 2011, yet successive delays with the aircrafts’ delivery have hampered the carrier’s plans. (jb)
