“One of the sections between Pyrzowice and Częstochowa [in southern Poland] is currently under construction, but we are processing the second stage of the tender for the section between Częstochowa and Tuszyn,” Minister Andrzej Adamczyk said.
“This highway will be completed by 2021, I hope,” Adamczyk added.
He added that the government had decided that the highway would not be built through public partnership because such a process would lengthen the investment process by two or three years.
He said that “the state does not charge highway tolls”, adding that only private operators do so resulting in “very high highway toll costs”.
Once completed, the A1 highway will form part of the E75 European route. The total planned length of the A1 highway is 565.1 kilometres (351.1 miles). (rg)
