Tanker with Iranian oil on way to Poland

A tanker with 130,000 tonnes of Iranian oil is on its way to Poland amid efforts by the government in Warsaw to diversify energy supplies.

The shipment, contracted by Poland’s state-controlled fuel refiner PKN Orlen, is due to arrive in the country in mid-April.
The oil will be processed at PKN Orlen's refinery in the central city of Płock, the PAP news agency reported on Wednesday, citing a company news release.
The ship has just left a terminal on Iran’s Kharg Island and is heading toward Poland, PAP said.
In another bid to diversify Poland's energy suppliers and reduce the country's dependence on Russia, state-owned gas giant PGNiG last year signed a five-year deal for the delivery of liquefied natural gas from the United States.
