A meeting with humanoid robot Sophia, developed by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics, is expected to be one of the highlights of the two-day conference.

The 250 speakers set to address the conference include Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz, Investment Minister Jerzy Kwieciński and Science Minister Jarosław Gowin.

Earlier on Wednesday, an “Innovation Train” departed from Warsaw to take Israeli and Polish entrepreneurs and start-up owners to the event in Kraków.

The train journey, an initiative by the Israeli embassy in Warsaw, aimed to facilitate an exchange of know-how and experience.

Daniela Kandel, director of Israeli company Start-up Nation, which aims to support new entrepreneurs, urged Poles to think about the global market when launching a new business.

“You have a great local market, you can test here, you can start working here, but you need to be targeting other markets… you should be looking abroad, you should be looking to collaborate, and you should be looking for smart money, smart partners, and smart mentors,” Kandel said.

Polish Deputy Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Tadeusz Kościński said Poles could learn from Israel how to finance start-ups.

He added that Poland should double investment in research and development. (vb/pk)
