Beef consumption has plummeted in Poland in recent years, sparking concern among the country’s meat producers.

Within the last 20 years, beef intake has dropped from 17kg to 3kg per capita annually.

The figures stand in stark contrast to other EU states, with Poland’s consumption being eightfold lower than the European average.

In France, 25kg of beef are eaten per person per year, in Germany – 12kg.

The Polish Cattle Breeders’ Association is up in arms in an effort to counteract the dwindling beef consumption figures, which are expected to reach 2.9 kg by the end of the year. (ab)
