Mateusz Morawiecki said on Thursday he was inviting all those concerned about the future of Polish education to take part in “roundtable talks" at the National Stadium in Warsaw on Friday, April 26.
He named trade unions, opposition politicians, experts, local government authorities, parents, teachers and educators.
Morawiecki said he wanted the debate to focus on four key topics: students, teachers, the quality of education and modern schooling.
The Polish prime minister added that the ongoing protest by teachers could only be resolved through an in-depth analysis of the state of education in the country.
He called on teachers’ unions to end the strike.
Thousands of schools across the country have cancelled classes after teachers last Monday went on a nationwide strike of unlimited duration.
The protest began just before end-of-school exams at various levels of education.
