The Polish star battled for over two and a half hours against Serbian hopeful Jankovic in the Californian tournament.
After a closely fought first set, Radwanska was given short shrift in the second, only taking two games, leaving fans on the edge of the seats for the decisive clash.
“It was a very good match from the beginning 'til the end,” Radwanska commented.
“For sure I should have finished it a little bit earlier in the third set, but she was really fighting until the last point.
“I think I was just better in a couple of points at the end today. I'm really happy I could win this one.”
Radwanska, who is currently No. 3 in the WTA rankings (Jankovic is No. 8), will now go on to face Romanian Simona Halep (No. 7).
The Pole has won three out of their five matches to date, but Halep triumphed in their two most recent clashes.
“Simona's having a really unbelievable season," Radwanska said, adding that she's “really looking forward” to the semi-final. (nh)
