Rally and former Formula One driver Robert Kubica has said he has had enough of proving himself, after a mixed performance in the WRC Rally de Espana, which wound up on Sunday.

Kubica, who spent over a year and a half away from professional racing following a severe accident at the Ronde di Andora Rally in February 2011, has had ups and downs since being compelled to put his Formula One career on hold.

The Polish driver came 11th in the Rally de Espana, with sport portal crash.net concluding that he had had a typically mixed event in his Fiesta RS WRC, winning SS3 and SS6, but slowed by several punctures as well as brake and gearbox issues.”

Kubica himself told Poland's Przegląd Sportowy daily however that he is not so phased by the lack of glory.

I have had enough of proving myself,” he said.

I would just like to do a clean rally from time to time,” he added.

The 2015 World Rally Championship wraps up next month with Wales Rally GB, which begins on November 12-15.

Kubica is 15th overall at present. (nh/rk)
