Can Kowalkiewicz steal Jędrzejczyk's MMA thunder?

Karolina Kowalkiewicz will make her debut in the Mixed Martial Arts Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the US on 19 December.

The 30-year-old is only the second Pole to compete in the championship, following on from success story Joanna Jędrzejczyk, who defended her strawweight title last month.
Kowalkiewicz's first fight will be against Canadian Randa Marcos.
“I'm very focused on preparing myself [for the fight],” the Łódż-born hopeful told Polish Radio.
“I've heard that in private, Randa is a very nice girl, but you have to forget about that when you're in the cage, and there will definitely be a good fight,” she said.
She noted that MMA is only just beginning to get recognition in Poland, arguing that that “everything in this sport is beautiful.”
She likewise expressed her keenness for a showdown with Jędrzejczyk, who took the UFC by storm when she made her debut in July 2014. (nh/di)
