Three world championship silvers for Polish rowers

Polish rowers are coming home with three silver medals from this year’s world championships in the United States.

On Sunday, Poland’s Mirosław Ziętarski and Mateusz Biskup took the silver in the men’s double sculls to add to two silvers Polish crews secured on Saturday.
Ziętarski and Biskup finished second behind a New Zealand crew, while Italy grabbed the bronze.
On Saturday, the Polish women’s four of Olga Michałkiewicz, Joanna Dittmann, Monika Ciaciuch and Maria Wierzbowska placed second behind an Australian crew and ahead of Russia, while Agnieszka Kobus, Marta Wieliczko, Maria Springwald and Katarzyna Zillmann were second in the women’s quadruple sculls behind the Netherlands and ahead of Britain.
The 2017 World Rowing Championships were held from Sept. 24 to Oct. 1 in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida. (gs/pk)
