German Michael Greis has been named the new head coach for Poland’s women’s biathlon team. He will replace Ukrainian Nadiya Bilova, the sport’s national governing body has announced.

Making the announcement, the Polish Biathlon Association said Bilova had been forced to quit for health reasons a year after taking over as head coach from Norwegian Tobias Torgersen.
Greis is a former German biathlete who retired from the sport in 2012 as a multiple Olympic and world champion, one of his country’s most decorated.
In the 2018/19 season he worked as head coach of the United States men's biathlon team.
Dagmara Gerasimuk, head of the Polish Biathlon Association, said that the new coach is expected to guide the national team in its preparations for the 2022 winter Olympics in Beijing.
“But along the way we are counting on winning some world championships medals,” Gerasimuk said, as quoted by the onet.pl website.
The national women’s biathlon team had its heyday under its Polish coach Adam Kołodziejczyk, who resigned in February 2017.
