New Polish face of Formula 1?

During an interview with Polish Radio, the 21-year-old revealed that two teams have invited him for tests.

Although he did not betray the identities of the crews, he confirmed that the tests will be held in the immediate future.

Manager Damian Raciniewski added that long-term participation is the goal.

“We're not interested in Kuba having momentary access to Formula 1 or Formula 2, we want him to be there for many, many years,” he said.

Giermaziak, who grew up in a village near the town of Gostyn, west central Poland, made his adult debut in the Formula Renault 2.0 series in 2007.

The Renault class is regarded as the key step towards entering Formula 3, which he joined this year.

Giermaziak originally caught the racing bug on local go-karting circuits. In this he follows Robert Kubica, Poland's Formula 1 star, whose career is currently in jeopardy owing to a serious crash this February.

Having undergone a series of operations, Kubica is currently taking part in a rehabilitation programme, but no confirmation date has been given about his return to the sport. (nh/pg)
