Polish Formula 1 star Robert Kubica, badly injured in a horrific rally crash last February, will be the face of a new campaign promoting safe-driving in Italy.
According to Italian daily Il Giornale Vostro, Kubica will launch the campaign in January at a press conference in the clinic of Santa Corona in Pietra Ligure, where the Pole himself was taken after February's crash.
Italy is plagued by a high proportion of road accidents, a frequently raised subject in the Italian press.
Kubica's own return to Formula 1 remains unclear. Last month he confirmed that it will not take place in 2012, as he is still working on his rehabilitation programme.
In an official statement released on 24 November, he said that the last eight months had been “the most difficult period of my life.”
The Polish star added that he wanted to be “100 percent ready before I commit to anything driving-related,” and revealed that he had been working “very, very hard” on his rehabilitation over the last few weeks. (nh)
