Obama – progressive democrat or liberal republican?

Prominent American political theorist Professor Benjamin Barber tells Polish Radio that Barack Obama must prove he is a “progressive democrat”.

“Obama will have a second term during which he’ll be able to prove that he is a progressive Democrat and not just another liberal Republican,” Barber - who acted as a political advisor to the then President Bill Clinton and as a foreign policy adviser to Democrat Howard Dean's 2004 Presidential campaign – tells Polish Radio's Wojtek Cegielski, who is in Chicago following the last days of the US elections campaign.
Americans go to the polls on 6 November in what, opinion polls indicate, will be another nail-biting election, with key, swing, states, on a knife-edge.
