The shop, which quickly became famous for its decadent atmosphere and lavish decor, was a hangout for artists, film stars and rock musicians, including Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Marianne Faithfull while Barbara Hulanicki became friends with one of her first customers - the model Twiggy.

Biba was also the place where Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American "Vogue" later portrayed in the "Devil Wears Prada", interned at the age of 16.
