Trade as aid at Polish-Greek economic forum

The forum was under the auspices of President Bronislaw Komorowski and Greek head of state Karolos Papoulias, on a two-day visit to Poland, Slawek Szefs reports.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Jaromir Sokolowski from the Presidential Chancellery pointed to mutually beneficial exchange of ideas as the pillar of success.

"The Greek side wants to get acquainted with Polish experience in the privatization process, while Polish entrepreneurs voice interest in Greek privatization. Poland is presenting its experience with Special Economic Zones as a model of supporting economic development," he said.

Greek minister for competition and development Kostas Hatzidakis voiced confidence his country is capable of attaining dynamic development within a short period. He mentioned energy generation and waste management as possible areas for cooperation with Poland.

Iwona Chojnowska-Haponik from the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) drew attention to the fact that Poland should be viewed as a partner with serious economic potential and considerable success to its credit.

"According to IMF statistics Poland places 21st on the global list of economies and it is approaching the G20 group with more and more confidence. […] This is not surprising, as in the period of the deepest crisis between 2008 and 2012, the Polish economy managed a 25 percent growth," she stressed.
