On Monday 13 April, Poland commemorated the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Katyn Massacre.

The crime was a series of mass executions of almost 22,000 Polish POWs carried out by the Soviet secret police, in April and May 1940.
Agnieszka Łaszczuk reports on the discovery of the crime and its political consequences.
“In letters to Churchill, Stalin claimed that an anti-Soviet campaign had been launched at the same time in the German press and that in occupied Poland, accusing the USRR of the crime. According to Stalin, it was evidence of collusion between the Polish emigré authorities and the German government,” said historian Sławomir Kalbarczyk.
