The number of Poles living in Brazil is close to two million. Their ancestors started emigrating to South America in the 19th century.
“In Poland people know very little about their compatriots living abroad. Hardly anyone realizes what a huge number of Polish scientists work at foreign universities or how many outstanding artists of Polish descent actually create abroad. And inversely, of course, Polish communities abroad would benefit from the feedback on what modern-day Poland is like,” said Dariusz Bonisławski, the head of the Polish Community Association, the organiser of the event.
