In this week's Focus, Michal Kubicki looks at recent events and celebrations of Polish culture.

First, some more on the Oscar nomination for In Darkness by Agnieszka Holland, with opinions from the director and film's producer Marc Daniel Dichant. There is also an Oscar on the cards for Janusz Kamiński, director of photography on Steven Spielberg’s War Horse.

Also in the show, good musical news from New York, where Q2 Music radio, part of WQXR, hosted Muzyka Nowa - A Celebration of Contemporary Polish Music. We talk about the week long series of programs with Q2 producer Alex Ambrose.
