It is believed that hackers are to blame for problems encountered on Wednesday with the Sejm lower house of parliament’s website.
Throughout Wednesday, the Sejm website loaded a lot slower than usual, or simply did not work, Polish media reports.
However, the Poland’s lower house has maintained that no confidential information on the servers of the Sejm Chancellery was disclosed and MPs’ personal information was not hacked.
According to RMF FM, the Sejm’s IT systems were not breached, although the network infrastructure run by the parliament’s telecoms operator might have been targeted.
The supposed hacking follows on from a cyber attack on the National Electoral Commission which was reported by cyber security website niebezpiecznik.pl on 18 November, two days after the local electinos took place.
The Commission later confirmed the attack, also alertingthe Internal Security Agency to the fact. Prosecutors in Warsaw have also opened an investigation into the hack attack. (jb)
