Should the US grant the Polish request, the investigation should end in June, Seremet told MPs. The request concerns help in gaining information held in the cloud by an American IT company.
The investigation concerns the series of tapes of private conversations between cabinet ministers and other powerful figures of Polish politics recorded in a number of restaurants and then leaked to the press.
A businessman and a group of waiters are under suspicion in the case.
The prosecutors are also investigating allegations that the then interior minister, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz ordered illegal wiretapping of the phones of secret-service agencies he suspected of colluding in the eavesdropping scandal. (an)
