The suspect, identified as Jan R. (last name withheld under Polish privacy laws) has been associated with one of the capital’s schools of higher learning for the past ten years, where he had access to computers and programs in several of its libraries.
Thanks to this the man was able to send dozens of emails with warnings of alleged bomb threats at various public institutions, including his own school.
The detained man has heard relevant charges from the Prosecutors Office. If found guilty, he could face up to 8 years imprisonment.
In 2013 and 2014, numerous bomb alerts in state administration buildings and ministries were reported, yet after thorough inspections it emerged that turned the alerts were false. Due to their scale, these incidents required the intervention of practically all available rescue services. (ss/nh)
