Polish prosecutors probe suspected racist attack in tram

Prosecutors in the western Polish city of Poznań are probing a suspected racist attack on a man and woman in a tram.

Two men insulted the pair, telling them to stop speaking in German and demanded they get off the tram, according to reports.
The woman was wearing a headscarf of a type used by Muslim women while her companion was a dark-skinned foreigner, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The tram driver came to their defence and ordered the two abusive men to leave. Instead they insulted the driver, according to IAR.
Investigators are working to identify the perpetrators and the victims of the assault, which took place on Tuesday.
