Five miners have been slightly injured after a tremor hit a coal mine in southern Poland.
Over 20 miners had been carrying out maintenance work in the area struck by the tremor, some 650 metres underground at the Mysłowice Wesoła mine.
All of them ascended to the surface without help. The injured miners were taken to local hospitals.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Twitter that he was in touch with Poland’s energy minister, adding that the injured miners would be provided with the best possible medical care.
On-site checks were to be carried out to assess the extent of the damage caused by the tremor, which took place on Sunday morning and measured just over 2 degrees on the Richter scale.
