Defence minister praises Polish soldiers serving in the Balkans

Poland’s defence minister was on Wednesday visiting Polish soldiers stationed in Bosnia-and-Herzegovina and Kosovo to thank them for their service.

Speaking in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo ahead of Poland’s Armed Forces Day next week, Mariusz Błaszczak said that Polish peacekeeping soldiers serving in the Balkans represented their country well internationally.
"You are ambassadors of Poland … a showcase of the country," he said, adding it was important for Poland to be seen as a nation that helped others.
"The improving situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is in part the result of the service, efforts and commitment of Polish soldiers," Błaszczak said.
Polish soldiers are stationed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the European Union’s EUFOR peacekeeping mission, and they are serving in Kosovo as part of NATO's KFOR peace force, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Poland will observe Armed Forces Day next Wednesday.
